It’s no secret that we love orange. And while our favorite color gets a lot of love around Halloween, we like to celebrate it all year long. So we’ve compiled lots of reasons we think orange is awesome every single day. Enjoy!
Here we are, smack-dab in the middle of
October pumpkin spice season, and that means that absolutely everything is pumpkin-flavored. While the occasional fancy pumpkin spice latte is fine—more power to you if it’s what you love—I get a little concerned when everything’s turning up pumpkin, because some of it is better than others. Don’t waste the calories (or consume a ton of chemicals) if you’re just looking for a sweet autumnal treat; you can get orangeliciousness (that’s totally a word, meaning orange deliciousness) in plenty of other ways.
If you need your PSL fix…
If nothing less than a hot, pumpkin-y coffee will do, try making your own at home—this recipe from The Kitchn is simple, delicious, and uses real pumpkin puree. You can make half a dozen at home for the cost of one at that place that rhymes with… ummm… Farmucks.
If you prefer it cold…
Is there ever a wrong season for ice cream? No; no, there is not. If you must have pumpkin, may I suggest these two fine dairy confections? You can’t go wrong with Turkey Hill’s pumpkin pie ice cream or my boyfriends, Ben & Jerry, and their pumpkin cheesecake ice cream. (Well, I guess you can if you can’t eat gluten, in which case you can join me in having this Edy’s Pumpkin Patch ice cream, instead. But I would much rather have the pumpkin cheesecake if I could.)
Yes, I absolutely bake my own from-scratch cookies for my kids—featuring pumpkin—as often as I have the time. And I also grab seasonal Joe Joe’s (Trader Joe’s answer to the ubiquitous sandwich cookie) whenever I see them in TJ’s. The pumpkin flavor ones are a nice alternative to a vanilla cookie, and the jack-o-lantern ones are the regular flavor, but with orange filling to make them more festive. These are always a hit in lunch bags, no matter how old my kids get.
Go forth and indulge in pumpkin flavor, and let me know if there’s a pumpkin-flavored something wonderful I’m missing.
Many began their journey on Staten Island yesterday as the 2013 New York City marathon took to the streets of all five boroughs. While not quite a thousand miles (it’s 26.2), anyone who’s ever run a marathon can tell you that it’s filled with lots of happy, and some painful, moments. But nothing quite compares to the feeling of crossing the finish line and accomplishing something so physically and mentally demanding. And what better way to celebrate the accomplishment than being wrapped in a warm, fleecy and ORANGE finisher’s blanket?!
Congrats to everyone who ran this awesomely orange race. If you have any orange-tastic photos from yesterday’s race we’d love to see them! You can send them to email@example.com or post a happy moment on the web or the iOS app.
What better way to get a boost of happy moments during your day than to surround yourself with fun, happy surprises that will make you stop and smile every time you seen them?! Sarah H has that concept down and man did we smile when we saw her happy moment about her happy, orange duvet cover! They say you should never go to bed angry. I’m guessing that’s no problem at all when going to bed involves climbing into a warm, cloud-like puffy hug of orange. Sweet dreams Sarah!

It’s no surprise that public art makes me much happier. First there were the Boston Street Seats and then an awesome temporary art installation made up of lights. I was fortunate enough to witness in the dark, making it even more spectacular. What I haven’t seen however is an art installation in the happiest color of all – orange! Enter Kylie’s awesome, orange public art moment.
I love the thought of this traveling sculpture ending up in a new city soon and making it into someone else’s happy moment too.
Keep those awesome orange moments comin’ by sharing them in our daily orange collection.
Let’s face it. Mondays probably do not rank as the happiest day of the week. So all the more reason to do something awesome for yourself! Sofi knows what we’re talking about and just seeing her happy moment this morning made this Monday a happier one.
What are you doing to make Monday better for yourself or someone else? Are you doing something orange? Share it in our daily orange collection and your happy moment may make a guest appearance on our blog 🙂
